Castles, cupcakes & consumer PR: my first week as a Raw Intern

Hello there! My name is Gina Reay and I’m the most recent newbie here at Raw.

I was absolutely delighted to be invited to spend a month interning as a PR Executive with the team in Harrogate. Since graduating with a Modern Languages degree and finishing my editorship of Bath University’s student newspaper, I have been tirelessly searching for my dream job in the PR & comms industry (would it sound too cheesy to say that I think now I might just have found it?!)

Working for Raw is, in a word, fabulous. Not only am I getting some invaluable hands-on experience in the world of consumer PR but I’m enjoying myself at the same time. Whilst your average work experience placement involves filing, photocopying and doing the morning bacon sarnie run, I’ve been pushed in at the deep end. Senior Account Manager and my new desk neighbour, Sam Ward, has given me a great project to assist with – LOVE Events, a luxury wedding show organiser.

As a self-confessed wedding fanatic I embraced the responsibility with open arms and since my arrival I’ve been snowed under writing blogs and copy for the upcoming website on everything from castles to cupcakes! I’ve also been tasked with setting up the social media for the brand, which, as a serial tweeter, I have very much enjoyed!

Unlike other jobs I’ve had, working at Raw does not mean a day of clock watching and refreshing BBC News, my week is flying by as I get stuck into projects that personally interest me. Couple that with the fabulous working environment and being surrounded by inspirational designers and account execs during the working week and I think I’ve found the perfect internship!

Thank you to everyone at Raw for having me and I look forward to the rest of my time here!
